FR~U symposium THE HOUSE THAT IS FALLING APART
Within the constellation of "stars," the symposium took as its point of departure the practice of care — a critical concern for the common and its relation to structures of power. It was hosted at the Museum of the Republic of North Macedonia, one of the country's first museums, which has long been struggling for its survival.
The symposium opened up a broader space for elaborating on the ideas of care, neglect, and decay, with particular attention to architecture, spatial formation, and their relations to other sensibilities. The programme included a lecture by Ola Hassanain (Khartoum/Amsterdam), accompanied by a conversation with Ivana Vaseva — curator of the symposium and the North Macedonia programme — and Marjoca de Greef and Anastasija Pandilovska, the curatorial duo of Suns and Stars and the Netherlands programme. It also featured film screenings by Ingel Vaikla (Tallinn/Brussels), Felix Melia (London), Harun Farocki (Berlin), and Brigit Arop (Tallinn), as well as a performative walking tour developed by Filip Jovanovski as part of the Laboratory for Performative Space Research, THE CITY AS A STAGE. The walking tour included stories shared by Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavoski, Nikola Gelevski, Winnie Herbstein, Anu Vahtra, Nikola Naumoski, and Vladimir Janchevski, who participated as guest performers and lecturers.
